Atop TV Sets, Cable Boxes and DVRs Drain Power – NYTimes.com.

You know it is starting to look like a good move getting rid of the two DVRs in our house.  I hadn’t realized they were such a power drain.  Now we still have a modem and router that run 24/7 but maybe in the future we will have more energy compliant electronics.  Most electricity is coming from somewhere – burning fossil fuels or nuclear power and not enough is coming from wind, sun, waves, and other mechanical perturbations.   In the meantime I feel we are reducing our burden on the electric grid and saving on our electric bill!
